Following an enquiry from a previous client Powerhire were incredibly excited to be asked to supply the Ministry of Defence with a temporary power solution for one of their Royal Navy Vessels.
The client gave us their exact power requirement and following our tender submission with our recommended power package along with five other suppliers we were incredibly pleased to learn of our success.
At the end of November 2014 following the conclusion of an 18-month deployment which had taken her around the Mediterranean, Gulf and Indian Ocean to the shores of Australia, one of the HMS Survey Ships required a spot of TLC.
Built in Devon in 2002, this multi-role hydrographic survey ship commissioned by the Royal Navy plays a crucial part within the MOD and therefore regular maintenance to the vessel is essential. Therefore at the beginning of December she was bought into a Falmouth shipyard for the works to be carried out.
Once in dock Powerhire engineers and logistical team loaded up the power rental equipment at their Kent site and delivered it to Falmouth. Once onsite the engineers set up a 1000kVA
generator and 6,000Ltrs fuel tanks together with 100metre 240mm 3 phase cable connecting it to the Royal Navy Vessel. Before leaving site Powerhire engineers commissioned the power hire package to
ensure it’s effectiveness for the duration of the three week hire period.
